2020 WEB DESIGN & Illustration

I pitched a website to Rocket to Mars, an antiques shop located in Providence, Rhode Island that carries an assortment of curiosities.

Goals

The website’s goal is to promote its buy/trade services rather than on what the store’s inventory because the nature of their business that items are ever changing. With that in mind we focused on:

  • Creating visuals that we more inline with its quirky aesthetic.

  • Adding in a function for sellers and traders to upload images of their offerings for a quick quote. This allows the owners to negotiate and schedule a in store meeting to finalize the sale.

As this was simple website, I quickly created a sitemap, task flows, and wireframes before moving forward onto the next step.

Visual Designs

Based on my analysis and research I created a strategic mood board to set Rocket to Mars apart from their competitors while leaning into their brand truth. I developed their visual tone as adventurous and friendly conveyed with the use of eclectic complementary colors and illustrations. I created a simple UI style guide for their website.

Conclusion

The Rocket to Mars website is straightforward and easy to navigate, supplemented by vibrant colors and graphics that is as unique as the antiques they carry.
